“The doctor could have easily sold me a product that I don't need, but she was honest and up front, advising that the benefits would not override the drawbacks. Very impressed with the honesty and professionalism!”

Frequently Asked Questions

Allen Audiology provides custom-molded hearing protection for a wide range of needs. Options include musician ear plugs, industrial and occupational protection products rated for high-noise environments, hunting and shooting plugs, and swim molds to keep water out.

Each product is shaped from a precise impression of your ear canal and manufactured from durable, medical-grade materials designed for long-term comfort, dependable noise reduction, and reliable performance.

The impression process is quick and painless. Your audiologist first inspects your ear canals, then places a small foam block at the opening to protect the eardrum. A soft, medical-grade silicone material is gently injected into the ear canal and outer ear, where it sets in about two minutes to capture an exact mold of your anatomy.

The completed impressions are sent to a specialized lab that manufactures your custom plugs. The entire appointment takes roughly 30 minutes, and your finished earplugs are typically ready within two weeks.

With proper care, custom earplugs generally last three to five years. Durability depends on the material, frequency of use, and how well the plugs are maintained. Storing them in the provided case, cleaning them after each use, and keeping them away from extreme heat all help extend their lifespan.

Over time, changes in your ear canal shape may affect the seal, at which point new impressions can be taken. Replacement filters and attenuators for musician plugs are also available without needing entirely new molds.
